Training of Biogas technology |
In line with the agreement signed between the Chinese government and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Asia-Pacific Biogas Research and Training Center (BRTC) was established at BIOMA in 1981. Ever since then, BIOMA has been entrusted to be the provider of foreign aid training courses by international organizations, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. In 2014, it was designated by the Food and Agricultural Organization of United Nations as the Reference Center of Biogas Technology Research and Training with the responsibility of providing multilateral training courses. By 2020, BIOMA has held over 100 international training courses, providing technical training for over 2000 officials, technicians and professionals from over 120 developing countries. Exemplary training courses include:

Major SSTC Projects
1. China Aid International Training in Jordan sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of China
Duration: Nov., 2019,-Dec., 2019
Location: Jordan
Activities: trained 33 local technicians and officials on waste treatment technology and utilization of biogas, including general situation, policies and regulations, design and construction, on-site pool construction, case analysis, sewage treatment, operation and management.
Results:participants learned Overview of the development of biogas utilization technology of agricultural waste in China, ideas of industrialization development of biogas utilization technology of agricultural waste in rural areas, relevant standards and technical specifications of biogas utilization technology of agricultural waste in China
Highlights:1.Biogas technology entered the Middle East region for the first time, deepened mutual understanding through training, and laid a foundation for further scientific and technological, economic and trade cooperation;2. Relevant Jordanian government officials and researchers will have a deeper understanding of China's technologies in the utilization of agricultural waste resources and biogas from livestock and poultry manure.
2. Overseas training on biogas technology in Samoa sponsored by Global Environment Facility (GEF) jointly implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
Duration: Sep.,2018-Oct.,2018
Location: Samoa
Activities: Theory study and practice training for local households. Themes include basic knowledge of biogas technology; biogas project case analysis and economic benefits; FRP biogas digester components; assembly points; biogas digester installation preparation and installation process
Results: Mastering biogas technology, local farmers are able to turn wastes into useful energy. This not only provide an effective way of waste treatment, but also a method of generating renewable alternative energy.
Highlights:
1. It is a triangular cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the China South-South Development Center.
2. Biogas has liberated a large number of housewives from heavy housework and provided clean energy, which is a practical improvement in people's livelihood.
3. The project was selected in the Good Practice in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development (Volume 3)
3. Exporting, installation and technical guidance of FRP biogas digesters sponsored by Pan-Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation
Location: India
Duration: August, 2016-September, 2016
Activities : 275 sets of FRP biogas digesters were exported to India and technicians were sent there to guide their installation.
Results: Local technicians mastered biogas technology, able to build digesters independently and apply this technology.
Highlights: Promoted environmental treatment in local village, established cooperation relations with Indian participants, which is exemplified by signing of subsequent Memorandum of Understanding and personnel communication.
