Activities: The project supports the construction of water cellars in rural area of Ethiopia and the construction of water purifying systems in schools of Addis to provide access to clean and safe water.

Results: 120 water cellars have been built which ensures water usage of rural residents in Ethiopia, especially in dry seasons. Some households have seen significantly increased income by growing crops. Water purifying systems have been built in 20 schools in Addis, improving the sanitation and health of students.

Highlights: The water cellars and water purifying systems have been a crucial support for local communities during the COVID-19, as they facilitate the requirements of sanitation and disease control.

Duration: from 2017 to 2019

Location: Ethiopia

Activities: This project aims at creating jobs for Ethiopian women through skill training, advisory services and business counselling, product design and development.

Results: This project carried out in Axum and Lalibela, Ethiopia from 2017-2019. With the support of CGCOC, 100 women have benefitted from the trainings of stone carving, weaving and pottery-making skills. Meanwhile, the project has facilitated market linkages for women entrepreneurs by collaborating with international institutions.

Highlights: The project addresses major individual-level gaps between agricultural skill and market information within the rights-based framework, such as limited access to skill training and market information. If these barriers are not addressed, women will continue being marginalized from productive activities and the overall social and economic growths.

Location: Ethiopia, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Namibia, Uganda, Zimbabwe

Activities: With the theme of “the Gift from Panda Land”, the Project aims to improve the basic learning, hygiene, and living conditions and their overall well-being of primary school students in China’s neighboring countries and countries participating in the Belt and Road initiative by providing essential supplies in the three categories aforementioned.

Results: By the end of 2020, the project has delivered Panda Packs to 732,314 primary students, improving their basic learning, hygiene, and living conditions.

Highlights: The Project embodies the friendship of Chinese people, strengthens people-to-people connectivity, and builds the bridge of cross-country friendship. Ministers and Vice Ministers of Education in Namibia, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Mongolia have participated in project ceremonies and distribution activities.

Location: Ethiopia, Sudan, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan

Activities: By either provision of school meals or food package distribution, the project is in attempt to facilitate the well-being and development of children in hunger and developing countries’ fulfillment of zero hunger vision.

Results: By the end of 2020, the program has benefitted 66,361 students.

Highlights: In 2017, 10 beneficiary students from Ethiopia visited China and participated in the “No food for 24 Hours” Advocacy Campaign to raise public awareness of global hunger. In 2019, the program was selected as one of the Best Global Poverty Reduction Practices by World Bank, ADB, WFP, FAO, IFAD, IPRCC, and China.org. In 2020, the program was selected as one of the Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development - Volume 3 by the UN Office for South-South Cooperation.

Location: Myanmar

Activities: The program targets full-time undergraduate students in Myanmar with financial difficulties, and provides financial support and capacity building activities (e.g., computer training, visit to Huawei) for beneficiary students.

Results: 1448 students from 14 universities in Myanmar have received financial support to complete their studies. and many of them have started their careers.

Highlights: The program has received recognition from the Myanmar government, local communities and local media.
