Summary of Projects and Achievements

Construction and operation of agriculture demonstration zone:

Hainan Dingyi Green Island is in charge of the construction of the Cambodia-China Tropical Ecological Agriculture Cooperative Demonstration Zone, which is one of the first 10 Chinese overseas agricultural demonstration zone and covers an area of 13000 hectares and has implemented banana demonstration projects and pepper demonstration projects.

Technical transfer and collaboration:

By cooperating with research institutes both from China and Combodia, Hainan Dingyi has successfully conducted technical transfer and R&D activities in banana and pepper industry, seedling, genetic resources, irrigation systems etc. Major technical transfer and collaboration activities include:

Large-scale and standardized banana and pepper plantation and processing demonstration with Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Hainan Pepper Association
R&D center of tissue culture seedling, collaborated with domestic seedling companies and the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia
R&D promotion center of water and fertilizer integrated irrigation

Training:

With the technical support from CATAS, Hainan Dingyi has organized 10 trainings in banana industry and 6 trainings in pepper industry. It has trained over 1100 local farmers and has become an important platform for agricultural cooperation between Cambodia and Hainan.

Major SSTC Projects

China-Cambodia Banana Industry Demonstration Project

Time: 2016-now

Place: Cambodia-China Tropical Eco-Agriculture Cooperative Demonstration Zone (Kratie Province of Cambodia)

Activities:

build up 300 hectares banana plantation demonstration zones with standardized production and processing, in order to demonstrate and develop the standard technical system of banana industry in Cambodia.
Scale up the standardized production and processing to 3,000 hectares, and the banana is growing well
Facilitate the export of Cambodia’s banana to China by successfully assisting Cambodian government to apply for qualifications for banana exporting to China and organizing ceremonies
Cooperate with research institutions and offer agricultural technical personnel training for many times.

Results:

Successfully developed large-scale and standardized banana plantation in Cambodia and facilitated its banana export to China
Technical and managerial skills of employees in the plantation have been improved through trainings
It sets a good example and foundation for banana industry in other places of Cambodia and across the whole chain.

Pepper industry park project

Time: 2016-now

Place: Cambodia-China Tropical Eco-Agriculture Cooperative Demonstration Zone (Kratie Province of Cambodia)

Activities:

Build up 60 hectares pepper plantation demonstration zone with standardized production and processing
Cooperate with research institutions such as CATAS and its Spice and Beverage Research Institute for technical support and personnel trainings

Results:

Hainan Dingyi Green Island plans to further demonstrate the standardized technical system of pepper industry by enlarging the demonstration zone till 600 hectares and benefit more farmers
Hainan Dingyi Green Island plans to cooperate with processing enterprises for developing the whole-chain of pepper industry
