Summary of Projects and Achievements

  1. Business cooperation

Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed has been operating hybrid rice seed trade with countries in the Southeast and South Asia, such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam and Indonesia. Every year, the trade amounts to over 1000 tons.

  1. Technical transfer and training

Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed also provides technical support and training to local demonstration centers in Bangladesh and Pakistan every year.

 

Major SSTC Projects

Set up the rice research center with Bangladesh's largest NGO and regularly train rice technicians

Duration: Since 2008 till now

Location: Bangladesh

Activities: Nearly 100 rice growers have been trained to improve their rice cultivation ability so far, and Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed agronomists are stationed in the area from December to April each year to guide their rice cultivation.

Results: Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed bred the rice varieties more suitable for local production circumstance, increasing the yield from about 5 ton/ha to 9 tons/ha

Highlights: It helped local companies produce nearly 1,000 tons of hybrid rice seeds every year, which was realized with the strong support from local government and farmers.

Help Ghana expand hybrid rice farming

Duration: Since 2015 till now

Location: Ghana

Activities: According to the local climate and soil environment, a number of hybrid rice varieties were selected and screened in the local environment. After three years of multi-point experiments, two new hybrid rice varieties adapted to the local environment were screened.

Results: In the early stage, Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed helped the local growers in Ghana to establish the rice irrigation system and level the land, and trained their technicians on rice cultivation techniques. Ghana imports a certain number of hybrid rice seeds from the company every year.

Highlights: The original yield of 3-4 tons/ha was increased to 7-8 tons/ha

Cooperate with Indonesia's largest seed importer to promote hybrid rice business

Duration: 2008-2016

Location: Indonesia

Activities: After five years of trial planting, screening, personnel training and strict seed quality management, Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed successfully passed Indonesia's strict seed import quarantine inspection process, and selected a hybrid rice variety for export to the Indonesian market.

Results: Indonesia imports thousands tons of hybrid rice seeds from the company every year

Highlights: The quarantine team from the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia comes to the company for about 10 days of quarantine certification every year. The seed quality and work of Yuan’s Hi-Tech Seed are well recognized.
